In regards to birth: A woman experienced in childbirth who provides advice, information, emotional support, and physical comfort to a mother before, during, and just after childbirth.

In general: a doula is a woman who is thoroughly educated in different areas of womanhood. She is able to provide support, understanding, and options for her clients during a wide range of life’s phases.

Studies have shown that having a doula as a member of the birth team decreases the overall cesarean rate by 50%, the length of labor by 25%, the use of oxytocin by 40%, and requests for an epidural by 60%.

Doulas often use the power of touch, massage, and other relaxation techniques to reduce stress, anxiety, and pain during labor.

For other doula services (outside of birth) having a doula can help greatly by growing your understanding of your body, providing natural techniques, and resources to better your health.

If this were to happen, I would be so sad! It is my intention to make it to every birth I am in contract with, however, I do understand that things happen sometimes.

In the unlikely situation that I am unable to attend your birth, every effort will be made in advance to advise you of the situation. At this time, I have a back up doula who would be called to replace me if needed.

In the instances of rapid labour, or failure to contact me, fees remain the same.

I’ve never missed a birth, but in the case that I am unable to attend your birth due to my error, the labour and delivery portion of fees will be returned to you/cancelled.

If your labour should last less than 2 or 3 hours or if I am unable to reach you quick enough before your babyʼs birth, fees will remain the same and I will meet you at your home or hospital as soon as possible.
